We regret that Sergio Aragonés will not be able to attend San Diego Comic Fest 2022 after all but hope to see him return to future Fests.

San Diego Comic Fest is once again proud to welcome Sergio Aragonés, El Maestro himself, as a guest. He has been called the world’s greatest living cartoonist, and also the fastest.

Born in Spain, Sergio moved with his family to Mexico at age 6. In 1962, while still in his 20s, he moved to New York with only twenty dollars and a portfolio of his drawings. By 1963, his work was appearing in Mad magazine, in which his work continues to appear, and he has gone on to do cartooning, writing, and art for many other publishers.

In the late 1970s, along with his buddy Mark Evanier, he co-created Groo the Wanderer, one of the first successful creator-owned comics. Groo first appeared in 1982 and continues appearing in print to this day.

His work for Mad, DC, Dark Horse, Bongo, and many other publishers has led to a host of awards, including the National Cartoonists Society’s Reuben Award, Comic-Con’s Icon award, Eisner Awards including the Will Eisner Hall of Fame award, Harvey awards, and many more.
