About the International Popular Arts and Comics Education League

The International Popular Arts and Comics Education League (iPACE League) is a California non-profit, tax-exempt corporation and a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.

The mission statement of the iPACE League is as follows: The specific objectives and purposes of this organization shall be to educate the public about comics (comic books, comic strips, web comics, graphic novels) and the other popular arts, both from the United States and other countries, and to promote and facilitate the use of comics and the other popular arts to further more-general educational purposes such as, but not limited to, literacy. The organization’s means of accomplishing its purpose shall include, but shall not be limited to, sponsorship of meetings, conferences, forums, and workshops, creation and publishing of informational materials, providing of art supplies and other resources for educational programs, and partnering with other nonprofit organizations and schools to create, sponsor, and promote educational programs about or using comics and the other popular arts.

To date, the primary means the iPACE League has adopted to pursue its mission is to produce the annual San Diego Comic Fest.
