San Diego Comic Fest Policies

COVID-19

San Diego Comic Fest follows the policies and recommendations of the San Diego County and California Departments of Public Health, as well as the CDC, in the prevention of the spread of COVID-19. As of February 16, 2022, the County recommends that everyone wear a face covering in indoor public settings, whether you’ve been vaccinated or not. If you are not fully vaccinated, you need to wear a face covering in indoor public settings. This includes all of the panel rooms, exhibitor hall, Artists Alley, Small Press, game rooms, the Cafe, and all other Comic Fest indoor spaces.

HARASSMENT AND DISCRIMINATION POLICY

The following policies shall apply to the San Diego Comic Fest:

Discrimination (based on, but not limited to, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or physical/mental disability) is not tolerated. Harassment of any kind — including, but not limited to, unwanted attention, inappropriate physical contact, and verbal abuse — is not tolerated. If someone tells you “no” or asks you to leave them alone, your business with them is done.

If you feel that you are being discriminated against or harassed, or if you notice someone behaving inappropriately (such as violating hotel or convention policies), we respectfully suggest the following:

  1. If you feel comfortable doing so, point out the inappropriate behavior to the person(s) involved. Often this will solve the problem immediately.
  2. If you do not feel comfortable talking with the person(s) involved, or if talking to them does not resolve the issue, please report the situation immediately to any convention staff member, or to hotel security who will help you make contact with convention staff.
  3. In the case of harassment at an open party, you may also report the issue to the party host.
  4. When making any report it would be extremely helpful if you could provide a name, badge name/number and/or physical description of the person(s) involved. Please remember that we need to know about any incidents during the event in order to take action.

San Diego Comic Fest reserves the right to revoke the membership of anyone failing to conform to the letter and spirit of these policies, those of our hotel, and the laws of the City of San Diego and the State of California.

WEAPONS POLICY

Comic Fest reserves the right to remove anything that resembles a weapon from the site. Our floor operations manager determines weapons approval on a case-by-case basis; his or her decision is final. Absolutely no real firearms are allowed, even if they are disabled. Anything that shoots a projectile is prohibited, including but not limited to, airsoft guns, paint ball guns, dart guns, nerf guns, BB guns, water pistols, etc.

All blade weapons must have a secure cover that cannot be removed (i.e. peace bonding in place). Such weapons include, but are not limited to, swords, daggers, knives, spears, axes and bat’leth, made of metal, wood or other hard material. Zip ties are the preferred method. A strap that can be unsnapped or untied is not sufficient. Floor operations will have some zip ties available in the convention operations room, and at registration. A bow or arrows may be carried, subject to the approval of floor operations, but not both. This includes crossbows. Anything that looks like a gun must have a brightly colored barrel tip (generally red or orange). If it looks like a real weapon from 20 feet away, please leave it at home.
