Alan Russell

San Diego Comic Fest guest Alan Russell

Alan Russell is the author of 15 crime fiction novels, and is an Amazon #1 bestseller. Publishers Weekly calls him, “One of the best writers in the mystery field today.” The New York Times says, “He has a gift for dialogue,” while the Los Angeles Times describes him as, “A crime fiction rara avis.”

Russell originally aspired to being a fantasy and science fiction writer, and his crime novels frequently include speculative themes bridging mystery and science fiction.  His works have been nominated for most of the major awards in crime fiction, and have earned him a Critics’ Choice Award, The Lefty (awarded to the best humorous mystery of the year), and the Odin Award for Lifetime Achievement.

A native and long-time resident of California, the 6’ 7” Russell is a former UCSD basketball player who these days can barely touch the rim. Russell was an early attendee of the San Diego Comic-Con, and misses those more innocent times.  He is looking forward to getting back to his roots and being part of the San Diego Comic Fest.
